Fabric: Minerva Exclusive Pigment Party Glossy Activewear Lycra Stretch Knit Fabric

Pattern: Know Me Paper Sewing Pattern 2051 and Wardrobe By Me Paper Sewing Pattern Boxer Shorts Underpants

What a fun set to sew! I love activewear and athlesuire, so getting to make this really fun and colorful set with this Minerva Exclusive Sports Lycra was a great afternoon sew! I combined two patterns, the sports bra from KnowMe 2051 and boxer briefs from a Wardrobe By Me pattern. I hacked the boxers to be turned into longer leggings and I love how they turned out!

The sports Lycra material was really great to work with as well! I love that is has a really great 4 way stretch and the print is so colorful and vibrant! The fabric is smooth to the touch and very comfortable on the body, like a second skin when I’m wearing it. I was able to take photos and actually work out in this set and it stayed in place and help up as I did my workouts! The material is definitely my new go to when it comes to activewear!

When I first laid my hands on this exclusive sports Lycra fabric, I knew I was in for something special. The vibrant design caught my eye immediately, but it was the feel and versatility of the material that truly won me over. This activewear knit fabric is not just any ordinary fabric—it's a game-changer for anyone who loves to create their own sportswear. I decided to use this fabric to make a sports bra and matching leggings, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The material has an impressive amount of stretch and amazing recovery, meaning it pings back into shape effortlessly. Whether you’re doing yoga, running, or lifting weights, the fabric moves with you, providing support without restricting your movements. It’s like a second skin that adapts to your body’s needs, no matter the activity.

One of the first things I noticed when working with this fabric was its glossy, slightly shiny finish. This subtle sheen really makes the colors of the design pop, giving the finished garment a professional, high-end look. It’s the kind of fabric that doesn’t just blend into your wardrobe—it stands out and demands attention.

As someone who loves to make my own clothes, I’m always looking for materials that are not only beautiful but also practical. This fabric checks all the boxes. It's resistant to creasing, which is a lifesaver for those of us who hate ironing. It wicks away moisture, keeping you dry and comfortable even during the most intense workouts. And let’s be honest—comfort is key when it comes to sportswear. The fabric is made from 85% Polyester and 15% Elastane, giving it that perfect balance of stretch and durability.

The stretch in this fabric is what really makes it shine. It has a 60% stretch across the width and a 60% stretch down the length, making it ideal for creating form-fitting garments like leggings, sports bras, and even leotards or swimming costumes. The leggings I made hug my body in all the right places, offering support while still allowing me to move freely. They’re opaque and don’t require any lining, which is another plus—no worrying about transparency, even with lighter colors.

This fabric is classed as medium weight, making it substantial enough to feel secure but still light enough to be comfortable. It’s the kind of fabric that makes you feel confident and ready to tackle whatever your workout throws at you.

When it came to sewing this fabric, I used my serger, and the results were flawless. The fabric glided through my machine without a hitch, and the seams turned out smooth and secure. It’s a dream to work with, whether you’re a seasoned sewer or a beginner looking to try your hand at activewear.

Overall, I’m absolutely thrilled with how my sports bra and leggings turned out. The fabric’s quality, combined with its vibrant design and practical features, makes it a top choice for anyone looking to create their own sportswear. I can’t wait to see what else I can make with it!
