Zero Waste Beaded Caftan Dress
I was gifted this fabric from Joann Fabrics and Crafts and admittedly it’s not my favorite to work with. I had bought it previously in a nude color and was SO glad when I was finished the durag and matching duster out of the fabric. The knit fabric is SUPER stretchy and the beads are impossible to sew through and sew around so the whole project before was a nightmare! As much as I loved the finished product, it just wasn’t worth the hassle. So this time I wanted to do things differently. Zero waste and sustainable designs have always been a staple in my business but I wanted to push myself a little further and make something I hadn’t before. So with my typical zero waste caftan pattern, I made a few alterations by adding a deep V and low back and a high slit and made the shoulders tie like bows to create this stunning dress! I hopped on the train to downtown and set up a photoshoot at Thanks-Giving Square here in Dallas. I wanted this dress to have a MAJOR moment, darling!
